busy day

rhys' first memorial day was jam-packed! he woke up bright and early and was the chattiest i have ever heard him. he would clack and coo and then laugh. mama c helped rhys make monkey bread for breakfast... lol, i took a big bite, and i just could not... but i did finish it. i thought that maybe if i dipped it in maple syrup, perhaps it would be "better." i made myself eat the monkey bread... but even c finally admitted that it was salty and very dense. lol, at least i know that when he is old enough to make me breakfast on his own, i will be able to choke it down ;-) i love this kid!

today we had his pictures "professionally" taken. i use this term loosely, because one would think that when photographing a baby, one would just snap away and then weed them out. not so. she would wait until he started laughing, and then would pick up her camera and snap once. then she would be disappointed when he was looking down or away during that moment. with his first outfit segment, he was smiling and cooing up a storm. and then he spit up all over. so, we had a wardrobe change and he was not having the next round. less than 5 minutes later, spit up again. so we figured it was time to strip him down for his final shots. they were my favorites :-) unfortunately we did not get a few poses that we had requested, but i figured we could do them ourselves; after the whole choosing which packages and effects we wanted, we were spent!

after his photo shoot, we went to see grammy, uncle john, sass, auntie jen and aunt linda. we visited for a bit, grammy gave rhys a singing turtle (ty!) and we were off to our next destination- cousin jordan's birthday party. we spent a bit o'time there, then came home.

grandpa jim called and asked if we wanted to meet him and aunt jan at the peninsula... so we met up at sara's, had dinner and then took a stroll by the beach.

it was a lovely memorial day; and we are so grateful for all of our freedoms.

  1. My in-laws take the boys to Sears (I'm stingy and won't pay for pro's) and the pics always turn out fab! My mother-in-law is very, um, picky. And she raves about how good and patient the girls are there. Not sure where you went, but maybe try Sears. Love the photos of him "making" monkey bread. He looks so into it! We have to get together...even if just for a walk...I have to meet this little sapling before he gets to big!
