a night and day of firsts

lastnight the boy slept in his room for the first time. it was traumatic for c, but the rhys seemed to adjust quite nicely. he woke up once at 4:30 a.m., ate and went back to sleep. yayyy, rhys! mama c, on the other hand, was a mess. she cried as she put him down (he didn't cry). she tossed and turned and was upset because she kept worrying about him... next thing i knew, she was sleeping at the bottom of the bed (because she said it was closer to the door, which was closer to the hall, which was closer to his room) so that she would be able to hear him if he cried (we had the baby monitor on).

today rhys participated in his first 5k. he relaxed the whole time.

we met another baby, who was born a week before rhys. we were having a very nice conversation with his mommy until another couple with twins (who were also a week older) joined us. apparently they did not enjoy the fact that rhys had two mommies, so they kind of ignored us. which was fine, because then we decided to lap them ;-) both babies who were older than our boy were waaayyyy smaller. looks like we have a brut on our hands ;-)

when we got home, we fed the boy his lunch and then we made ourselves a little bite to eat. c was holding rhys as she ate her wrap, and his eyes were just fixated on our food... soooo, c took a bit of avocado from her wrap, smooshed it up and put it in his mouth. he LOVED it! so she gave him a bit more and he was thrilled! he opened his mouth to mouth on her wrap, so she ended up giving him a smidge more.

after lunch, the boy had some tummy time. he is scooting himself forward quite a bit :-) mama c read him a story, and now he is down for a nap.

last, but not least, yesterday, the boy started to hold his bottle by himself. he still requires assistance to help him aim it into his mouth, but he really seems to enjoy helping to feed himself.

what a lovely saturday morning we have had :-)
