after today's encounter with avocado and reading the article about introducing solids in june's edition of 'parents', we made the leap. yes, yes, c must even think that the time is near for:

... otherwise she never would have agreed to buy it. she is just sad that the boy is growing up. this weekend has been tough for her- with the boy sleeping in his own room and testing the waters with solid food and bathing in the big tub.
