the joe's crab shack that wasn't

as a farewell to my freedom, we decided to embark on a daytrip yesterday to cleveland to go to the zoo, trader joe's and joe's crab shack. the shack was the first on our list- to lunch and then to shop and zoo it up. well, it felt like we had driven further than necessary, so i asked c what was going on... because i was sure that we would pass the shack before we got to trader joe's on all of our previous trips. she gave a sly smile and confessed that she really didn't know where we were going- that we were totally relying on garmin and that there should be a shack on sperry in cleveland. okay, i thought... so i kept driving. and driving. and finally we arrived... at the bonefish grill, or something like that. joe's had ceased to exist, and no one bothered to tell brigette (our garmin).

we decided to go to the zoo first and had a snickity snack in the rainforest cafe. then we went to the whole foods market and trader joe's, and by this time we were ready for a delicious bucket o'crabs!!!

sooo... i googled joe's crab shack in cleveland, mentor, cuyahoga falls, etc., and came up with a whole lotta nothin'! we called friends and family to look up the shack online, and we finally found one in north canton... but i was using my noodle this time... i called first. some guy answered, and i sputtered out, "uh, hi! is this joe's crab shack?" it wasn't. go figure. the closest one was in pittsburgh, and i swear that if it wasn't already 7:30, we would have driven there...

we mourned the loss of our crab buckets and momentarily considered going to sister flossie's seafood house of horrors, but, instead went to stir crazy. it was yummy, but it was no joe's crab shack.

i think pittsburgh is in our plans for next weekend... ikea, zoo and joe's... here we come!!!
