20 weeks!!!

dearest chicken,

20 weeks. twenty weeks. TWENTY WEEKS!!! i cannot seem to wrap my brain around the fact that you are now 20 whole weeks old. it seems like just yesterday you were a teeny tiny baby... and look atcha now!

this past week brought you feeding yourself some baby mum-mums. your appetite has drastically increased- you are eating three solid meals per day, and the amounts during each feeding have been increased.

you are still fighting your cold (?) allergies (?) whatever. mayhaps the good dr. will be able to shed some light on your stuffy wittle nose this week (you are due for your next round of vaccines- i am sooo sorry in advance).

tummy time is much more tolerable now. you are wigging us out a bit at night, though, because you insist on sleeping on your belly. we check in on you numerous times per night, and always roll you over, but you immediately roll yourself back onto your belly. you are also scooching yourself around quite a bit... and you get frustrated because it is very rarely that you get yourself where you want to go, but rather in the opposite direction.

you have taught us to follow your schedule very well. around 7-ish p.m., you start rubbling your sweet eyes, which alerts us that we had better get your cereal ready so that you can be slumbering by 8. if we miss our window, you seem to get overly tired, and it's more difficult to get you to go down. so, like pavlov's dogs, as soon as we see your stimulus, we start salivating... i mean, as soon as we see your cue, we hurry up and ready your cereal ;-)

the other day as you were playing on the floor, i had a flash-forward to when you are crawling. although i love experiencing each of your milestones, it seems as though you are just plowing through your little babyhood stage. it almost breaks my heart... and then i see the joy on your face each time you accomplish something new... and i know that the next phase will be every bit as wonderous as each phase that has come to pass. you are an amazing teacher, mr. piece. thank you.

happy 20 weeks, lovey-dove!
