back in the day I was an expert sleeper-inner. no joke, I could sleep until 3 p.m. of course, I was also a night owl, and would stay up until the wee hours of morning. but no more. don't get me wrong, I'm not an early to bed, early to rise kinda gal, but I try to be asleep by midnight, because these nutty little kids awake with the rooster... and I have to be to work by 7:30 a.m.
on mondays, wednesdays and fridays, my alarm is set for 4:30 a.m. so that I can be to the gym by 5. well, the gym is closed today, so I took great delight in turning my alarm off lastnight. of course I tossed and turned, and, when I finally started drifting off to dreamland, I was startled awake by what I thought was a crash. it wasn't fireworks and the dogs weren't barking, so maybe I had imagined it? I didn't think so, so I shook a snoring c. her response? "grab a dog and go check it out. zzzz". nice. real nice. I wasn't grabbing no dog and checking it out. I went to sleep finally.
the next thing I knew, I found myself knee deep in a horrible nightmare. I am afraid of snakes. terrified. like I have a for real phobia. in the fall, as I was bringing the kids in from recess, there was a snake by the door, and I froze and started screaming. I couldn't move. I shielded myself from the snake with little childrens. it may not be my proudest moment, but the fear is real, people. the fear is real. anywho, I dreamt that there was a snake on me and that it was poisonous. I had gardening gloves on, and I had to hold it's mouth shut by squeezing it's head. it. was. awful.
when I finally woke myself up and recovered from that nonsense, pennywenny decided that it was time to start her shenanigans. our bedroom floor is a hard surface. pennywenny has clompy paws... so, when she paces, she makes a click-clack sound, which, in the middle of the night, seems to echo even louder... she is also on meds, which make her thirsty. her thirst seems to exaggerate at 3 a.m. so you see where I'm going with this??? crash. snake. clompy paws.
on my one free sunday sleep, there was no rest for the weary. sigh. good thing school is almost out!
That sounds horrible! I tell people all the time that sleep deprivation is the hardest part of parenting. Coupled with phobia nightmares, uggghhh!!! Maybe you can catch up on sleep next weekend?!
