nicu reunion

remember once upon a time ago, when our girlies were born at 25w4d, and spent their first 92 days in the nicu? remember when we had to rely upon the love and expertise of others to grow our babies so that they could come home with us? remember when the most amazing group of medical professionals became more like family to us as they cared for our bits? yeah. so do I.

every single day we are grateful for the st. v's nicu team. they gave us hope when we were terrified. they made bagging our sweet girls as they forgot to breathe seem like a walk in the park. they laughed with us and held us when we cried. they became our heroes.

today was st. v's annual nicu reunion. today was a day to celebrate all of our miracles and the miracle workers who cared for them. as director of cmn, c was in charge of this year's reunion. there was a bounce house and pony rides and clowns. the kids had a fantastic time!

not a day goes by that we don't realize how lucky we are. not all sweet babies get to go home with their families. as we left the reunion, we released some balloons in memory of the wee ones gone too soon. lyncoln was very concerned that the babies would be able to find the balloons to play with them. quinnie, with all of her quinnie wisdom, calmed her sister's concerns: "don't worry, lank-in! the balloons are bright colors, so the babies will be able to see them, even in the dawk!"
