poor lyncoln was miserable. she was screaming all. night. long. and by screaming all night long, i mean that she lost her mind screaming at the top of her lungs from around 7:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. chronic lung disease, my foot!
we figured that she was sore from her blood draw yesterday. or maybe she had gas. or maybe it was the two teeth popping through her gums. or maybe it was a mixture of all of the above. anywho, she was inconsolable. we had her lie in bed with us until almost 1 a.m., but we knew that one of us had to get some kind of sleep, so c took her downstairs... where she continued to scream. (sidenote- we didn't take her to the er because we really thought it was because of the aforementioned issues). she was screaming so loudly, that i couldn't sleep. around 4, c came up and said that it was my turn to try and soothe the savage beast. so, i came down, scooped her up, and somehow got her to 'sleep.' i stayed in the same uncomfortable position until 6:30 because i was afraid that one false move would shove her off the edge.
when c came down, lync was acting fine. her sweet little eyes were puffy from crying all night long, but she seemed ok. she was fine at daycare- until around 4, when we got 'the call.' lync's left ear was oozing. again. mind you, she just finished her antibiotic last tuesday for an ear infection. her ped's office was closing, so we had to take her to the er... and, low and behold, quinn's ear was a bit crusty, as well... might as well make it a family affair!
i called my brother, and he came and watched rhys why c and i tag teamed the girls at the hospital. the night got even better with the intake lady. she was asking about their health history, so i told her about quinn's pda. she didn't know what that was, so i started to explain it to her- until she rudely cut me off. then it was lync's turn. i told her that she had chronic lung disease. she got a terribly disgusted look on her face and spewed, "chronic lung disease? how could an almost one-year-old possibly have chronic lung disease?!" so, i spewed back that, like i had already explained, they were 15.5 weeks premature and that she was vented and it took a 10 day round of dex to get her off of the vent, and even then, her lungs were still whited out on x-rays. she just looked at me with a disgusted look.

we look pathetic in the er
after we were in the exam room, another lady came to make sure all of our information was correct: address, phone number, insurance, yada, yada yada. it all was. then, with an absolute piggy tone, exclaimed, "this is strange! it says mother: christine and mother: sheela!" without missing a beat, c said, "that's not strange, that's reality! lyncoln and quinn have two mothers!" the lady did a double take and said, "oh."

we will reek havoc on your er, unless...

you let us eat mum mums!
now, i must say that the nurse practitioner was WONDERFUL! and, this is the same hospital where our girls were in the nicu for 13 weeks with the most amazing staff EVER.
of course both girls have ear infections (AGAIN), so we took their prescriptions to be filled. about a half an hour later, we went to pick them up and were told that the antibiotics were denied. we were going to pay for them, but they were $200 apiece, so we just took the ear drops and the pharmacist will call in the morning to get them approved (they were most likely denied because the girls just finished a round of this antibiotic last week).
i think that our next move is to ask for a referral to a pediatric ent.
so, that was our evening. our evening after an evening of zero sleep. sigh. these girls are lucky they are so cute ;-)
