a christmas story photo

we are entering (or maybe have already entered) rsv season. rsv is a nasty wasty illness that can send our wee bits back many, many steps- respiratorically speaking (i made that word up). in you or i or even children without chronic lung disease, rsv would look like a cold. for our babes, it could send 'em packin' back to the hospital. in order to try and avoid this, the girls have been approved for the synagis vaccine again this year (YAYY!!!)... they will have one every month, beginning at the end of this month, until april-ish. it doesn't protect them from contracting rsv, but rather, helps to lessen the havoc that rsv can reek.

where am i going with this? well, it's the christmas season, and the christmas season just hollers for a picture taken with santa... and, santa is at the mall... and, there are A TON of germies at the mall... so, we went early- to avoid the santa bum-rush. it worked. there was virtually nobody waiting to tell jolly st. nick what they would like to have under the tree christmas morning.

rhys sauntered up to santa like they were long lost friends. he made himself comfortable on his lap, and, when asked what he would like for christmas, the boy froze- just like the scene from 'a christmas story'- he. froze. we know full well that the kid wants cars and trains for christmas, but what came out of his mouth? "balls. i want balls for christmas." santa looked at rhys... and then me... and repeated, "balls? you want balls?" i shrugged. i guess the kid wants balls.

about this time, the photographer asked rhys to stand beside santa on his chair so that santa could hold lyncoln and quinn. rhys did as he was told, and, as c, m and i made fools out of ourselves trying to get the girls to smile, rhys was cheesin' it up... until we finally got the girls to kind of smile... then, of course, he looked like he was constipated. did we care? no. we paid our ten bucks, and skipped to my loo outta there!
