top o'the 3 week birthday to ya!

happy 3-week birthday and st. patrick's day, all rolled into one! mommy and i cannot believe how quickly you are growing! we think you are going through (another) growth spurt because you are eating a ton and sleeping lots (during the day, of course. we have got to work on reversing your day/night schedule). we know that when you are sleeping we should be sleeping, but we are so enchanted by you that we will just stare at you for hours.

this past week you have gone on a few shopping trips (you love car rides and your car seat- once you are all buckled up). you really like the great outdoors (that's my boy!), be it actually being outside or merely looking out the window, you are mesmerized by nature.

as a 3-week birthday gift, mommy and i got you a wipe warmer. yes, i know, i thought that it was a luxury item that we did not need, but after your bout with your tummy troubles, it hurt me to see you wince from a cold wipe every time your diaper was changed, and, unlike mommy, i do not put your wipes under my shirt before i use them. i figure, at least you could be somewhat comfy during your down-to-ten-from-about-seventeen diaper changes per day.

i really wish that we could have taken you to the st. patrick's day parade this past weekend, but we are so so busy packing and repairing house stuff to prepare for our big move. mommy and i are sad when we have to be away from you to do those things, but we know that it is for the greater good. we can't wait to see you splash around in the pool, and there is a great tree in your new backyard that we are going to hang a swing from :-)

we keep trying to decipher what color your hair is going to be. right now you have the sweetest peach fuzz ever, and it seems to change color by the hour- sometimes it's blonde, sometimes brown and still other times it's a strawberry blonde. you just love to keep us guessing, huh? sometimes, after you have been napping, your fuzz sticks up and we lovingly refer to you as the heat-miser. we believe that your eyes will stay a beautiful blue, but you may decide to surprise us on that one too.

i'm going to let you on a little secret, but you have to promise not to tell anyone... come here. closer. closer... even though i am so tired at night, i so cherish our cuddle time together. i love singing jim brickman and carole king and silly made-up songs to you. i adore smelling your sweet baby smell and stroking your even sweeter baby cheeks. you. are. a. miracle. "oh yes, sweet pieces, so glad you are a child of mine."
