zoo boo!

c and i officially fail as parents.

allow me to elaborate...

yesterday, while we were enjoying a lazy sunday at home, i decided that rhys and i would assemble his halloween giftie bags for his daycare class. i held the bags open while he plopped one of each item, in proper order, into the bags. he was so excited... skateboard, fruit snacks, organic bar, notepad, light up bracelet... over and over... fifteen times. he enjoyed it. i enjoyed the first three times. but we got through it... barely.

later on, we explained to him that tomorrow (monday), he would be able to wear his costume to zoo boo and that we would see all of the animals and ride the train. he seemed to kind of brush it off, almost as if he wasn't listening. parenting rule #461, just because your kid is acting like he doesn't hear and/or care, he does. he really does. this morning at o'dark thirty, i brought lynci down and proceeded to shower and such. as i was blow drying my hair, i heard c coming down with quinn. or so i thought. the bathroom door slowly opened, and rhys walked in... "i gotta get my socks and shoes on mama to go to zoo boo!" ugh. first of all , the kid never comes downstairs by himself. ever. secondly, it is very rare for me to see him before i leave for work. these two things should illustrate how excited he was- paired with the fact that there wasn't a battle to put on his socks and shoes- double ugh. so i explained to him that we were going to zoo boo after school. by this time, c was up and it was time for me to leave...

later on, she called me and told me about the mess that was our son. he thought he was taking his friends their skateboards today. triple ugh. thank goodness we packed him up some pumpkin cookies and gourds and tissues to take and share with his friends... apparently tissues make everything better... or maybe that's cookies? anywho, we crushed the poor boyo's spirits twice this morning, and it wasn't even 7:30 a.m.

after school and work, we participated in the new olympic event, known as shoving three little kids into their halloween costumes to make it to zoo boo in time to get through zoo boo to make it home for the next feeding time and bedtime. we succeeded. kind of.

rhys had such a good time tonight. he rode the dragon and trick-or-treated and danced with the pengun and made music with his feet and rode the train. the girlies were pretty good, too. well, except for lync's 15 minutes of meltdown.

gosh, i love these kids of ours <3
