usually i am a very patient person. i don't mind standing in long lines. traffic doesn't bother me. i can wait my turn without losing my mind. however, when it comes to knowing the gender of our little beebees, i am terrible.
when we were sent to the perinatologist in pittsburgh, i all but begged the sonographer to take a peek. okay, i begged, but i figured we were put through such a scare, we deserved to maybe know if these little beebees were he's or she's. what they were was little stinkers. they both had their legs crossed.
at our last sono here at home (last week), i basically begged the sonographer to try and find out if we were having boys or girls. she tried. for a long time. but she wasn't saying anything- she just couldn't get a good view. sooo, i posed the question, "if you were a betting woman, what would you wager?" she said that at first she thought boys- but maybe she was just seeing the hand or foot of the other baby. then she said that she thought girls, but really, she had no clue.
i was going crazy. i just had to know. from the beginning, i predicted that they were girls. okay, i predicted that they were fraternal, and that there was one of each, but that guess was blown out of the water when we found out that they were identical. and then i just knew that they were girls. patience, in this case, was not my virtue.
anywho, our friend is studying to be a sonographer. she suggested that we go to her school and allow the students to "practice" on c... and, as a bonus, perhaps find out what we were having. i was sold. c, not so much. our anatomy sono is scheduled for nov. 4th, and she was somehow content just waiting. how this is possible, i have no idea... because, as much as i love her, patience is just not her thing. so i bribed her. $25 to go and get the sono. she said no. $50. she accepted. little does she know, i would have gone up to $100 :-)
which, brings us to today. i assembled a trio of envelopes that would prohibit c from sneaking a peek (i couldn't be there with her today). she went, and, then immediately came to my school. on her way down, she asked if i wanted the good news or the bad news first. i chose the bad news. they could only discern one of the genders... which was okay by me since they are identical... she said that the "good" news was that she still gets the $50.
soooo, after i ushered the kidlets to their buses, i ran to the van. she gave me the envelope, and i excitedly opened the first one. i offered to let her open the second one, but she told me just to do it. so, i opened the remaining two, took out a folded piece of paper, unfolded it and read...
