the day began with a scenic drive to the peak for their annual fall fest. we petted animals, "kak-kakked" at the ducks, sampled fudge and kettle corn and perused the vendors. however, the highlight of the trip was a single purple balloon. mr. chicken fell in love with that thing. he clutched it in his little chubby hand and shrieked with sheer delight. he never let it go.

when we got home, we had some lunch, and attempted to put chicken down for his nap. epic fail. the child refused to nap. we know the drill: if you mess with the chicken's schedule, the chicken will mess with you. and mess with us he did.
after dinner, we costumed him up in his dj lance costume and about twelve layers of clothes, and headed for zoo boo. we met our pals there and trick-or-treated while visiting with the animals :-) chicken actually did quite well, considering he had no nap, and even though he did face plant before we even got into the gates of the zoo.

we kept a watchful eye on him as we drove home- we didn't want a sleeping chicken before we got home. he did quite well, except the part where he fell asleep... halloween light exploring just knocked the kid out. when we got home, he was out cold, and didn't stir once... until c changed his shirt... and even then, he went right back to sleep as soon as his sweet little head touched his bed.

it was the sweetest sweetest day of all :-)
