since i have nothing better to do, i make up mini-missions for myself. after our baby basics class, i have cradle cap on the brain, and therefore, must find the perfect baby oil. since c and i have literally scoured the baby products sections everywhere, i was convinced that there wasn't a baby oil to be found that did not contain mineral oil. so, lastnight, i reluctantly bought the j&j baby oil. not that there's anything wrong with j&j, it's just that we are trying to be a smidge more ecologically conscious. sooo, tonight i was surfing the web and low and behold, i came across the burt's bees baby apricot oil!!! i was psyched, and i was absolutely sure that somehow i just overlooked it while we accumulated our baby toiletries. so, off i went...
i started off at t*rget. i searched the baby section and the organic products section. zilch. then off to the mall, where i visited b*rders and m*therhood maternity. nada. then, reluctantly, off to w*lmart. once again a whole lotta nothing. at this point, i call c and she suggests wegm*ns. i got off the phone with her and immediately called the co-op. woohoo! the op carries it! but i skip on over to wegm*ans 'just to see' and THEY HAD IT!!! mission complete!

in other news, i got my flu shot today. i wasn't going to get one this year (obviously- i would have gotten it by now), but the oh mighty baby basics class strongly suggested that we all get one. c already received hers from work, so this morning, i rolled up my sleeve and took it like a champ.
finally, c and i have been trying to figure out what finalities we need to get done before bamboozle's arrival. c called the state police to make an appointment to get our car seat properly installed, the last of the baby laundry is being done tonight and we have been practicing swaddling. it's not as easy as it looks, i tell ya! c is worried about the blankets not being big enough to properly swaddle, while i am worried about holding bamboozle upside down by his ankles as i try to swaddle him, as i do to our practice doll.
Burt's Bees Apricot Oil smells so yummy! I love it. (Target does carry the baby stuff...look in the make-up aisles for the Burt's stuff.)
ReplyDeleteSwaddling is easy once you figure it out. A smaller blanket (standard receiving blanket size) works easier than a larger one (less fabric to mess with). And a blanket that has a bit of stretch to it works better also. Check this book out for great step by step directions of the various styles... http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Gami-Beginners-Andrea-Cornell-Sarvady/dp/0811847640/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1232854584&sr=8-1
thanks, shark! we have been following the swaddling recipe from dr. karp's video. for our practicing, we have been using a 'life is good' blanket (a bit bigger than a receiving blanket) on a small doll, and it didn't seem like there was enough blanket... so we were a bit concerned on whether or not receiving blankets would work... and you are certainly right about the stretchy part!!! thanks again :-)
