let the games begin

today, my brother decided that he would get in on the act and play my reindeer games. he predicts that bamboozle will make his grand appearance on february 22nd, between 6 and 7:30 p.m., and weigh 7 lbs 5 oz.
as we were going back and forth about our preparedness for bamboozle, he thought he was making a funny by asking if we had our ceremonial bongos ready for the birth. lol, i told him that we did not, but we do have our blessing cup ready.

we are not religious, but rather are spiritual, and the thought behind his blessing cup is that we, as a family, will use his cup on each of his birthdays as a way to share special thoughts/memories. bamboozle is definitely a blessing to us, and we want him to always know how much he was wanted and loved always. c and i love talking at night about the traditions that we will share with him. we so look forward to integrating our separate familial traditions, as well as creating our own special traditions.

so far, some our ideas include:
the eve of christmas eve: driving around oogling at lights, caroling at the homes of family and friends.
christmas eve: making magic reindeer dust, leaving cookies, milk and carrots out for santa and reindeer, reading 'twas the night before christmas', and new christmas jammies.
christmas: breakfast on sausage roll and snowman-shaped pancakes, gifts and stockings here at home, then visiting families.
new year's: not quite sure, but leaning towards a musical ensemble created with pots and pans :-)
valentine's day: heart-shaped pancakes (i hope he likes pancakes) and berries, sweet love notes around every corner (c is really good at this!)
st. patrick's day: try to catch a leprechaun, of course!
easter: will probably be spending easter in nc with c's parents... visions of easter egg hunts and hidden baskets and sweet outfits are dancing in our heads.
4th of july: parading and picnics and fireworks, oh my!
halloween: tricks-or-treating! zoo boo!
fall: fall fest at the peak, asbury woods maple fest.
thanksgiving: we are looking at hosting thanksgiving at our house. it was supposed to start last year, but with the whole trying to sell the house extravaganza, it didn't happen.

one of the wonderful things about children, is that really, everyday can be a reason to celebrate... and we so cannot wait to seize this opportunity!!!
