poor chicken

as i was cuddling with the chicken lastnight, i started playing with his ears. well, imagine my surprise when i discovered a crumbled up cookie smooshed into the back of the crease in his ear! c cleaned it off, and it was a bit irritated, so we put some cream on it and called it a night.

apparently he also had three dots on his sweet little cheeks... i didn't notice them, but daycare did! c took him to the dr., and apparently the cookie was covering up an irritated eczema patch and the three dots multiplied to like ten, and it turned out to be impetigo. nice.

so now our boy is tucked into bed, antibiotics administered and a prescription ointment applied to his cookie infested ear.

this comes a mere week after our 4.5 hour trip to the er because the chicken had acquired a limp. the limp didn't seem to hurt him at all, but he was definitely limping. we checked for hangnails and splinters and bruises- nothing! the er took x-rays and did bloodwork- nothing! three days later, the limp was gone. it turns out that his cold somehow manifested fluid into his hip joint, which caused a painless limp. who knew?!?! and, of course, only our chicken!
