4 weeks

dearest lyncoln & quinn,

happy 4-week birthday, darling girls! every single day you awe and amaze us with your courage and strength and sweetness. you fill our hearts with even more joy than we ever thought possible.

you have both had quite a week! both of your picc lines have been removed and your calories and quantity of feedings have increased. mommy and i get to hold you a bit more and we are beyond thrilled about that. the only problem is is that once you are in our arms, it is so terribly difficult to let you go...

lyncoln: you have made the transition from the ventilator to the cpap quite smoothly... keep it up, love! we know that it was tough when they had to restrict your liquids, but the steroid round is over, and you are getting back to your old intake... so, we are ready for you to gain more weight and grow, Grow GROW!!! you were the talk of the town today as you were welcomed into the 2-pound club!!! since that mean old ventilator tube is out of your throat, you are able to make sounds now. mommy heard your little squeaks, and she assures me that they are adorable- just like you :-) you are a trooper, lyncoln. we believe in you from the moon and back infinity... so you keep on getting bigger and stronger and we will keep on surrounding you in love and light. because of you, the past four weeks have been magic times three (you, quinn & rhys ;-) )...

quinn: you are our little buddha baby, and that is such a wonderful thing :-) you are doing such a good job with your nasal cannula... well, except when you yank it out of your nose and shove it into your mouth (nobody likes a booger eater, quinn ;-) ). you have certainly found your voice this past week! you have gone from making little guinea pig squeaks to an all out sweet mother of pearl cry! and not only do you cry, but you throw your little head back, arch your body and let out a wail! but that's okay- you keep those lungs growing strong! as of today, your current weight is 2lbs8oz; keep it up!!! you are a wonderment, quinn. our hearts light up with the mere thought of you, and, since you are always on our minds, our hearts are always happy :-) happy 4-weeks, sweet girl!
