summer bucket list check off!

apparently when it comes to our summer bucket list, it's either feast or famine around these parts! yesterday and today was most definitely on the feast end of the spectrum!

yesterday was a humid day, with rain threatening to fall at any given moment... soooo, I called our pals, and asked if their little fella would like to join our troops for a few games of bowling... but we got better than that... his sister and one of his moms joined us (we missed you c & k). i'm not sure what the kidlets enjoyed more- bowling or eating potato chips. either way, we can't wait to go again!

after dinner, mommy decided to take us to sara's for ice cream! yay!!! on the way there, she read us a few chapters from "the bfg"... we got our ice cream, and drove around the peninsula. a perfect end to a perfect day!

today started out pretty low-key. rhys went to karate and c went to pick up a few groceries. when they came home, we fed the kids lunch, then they went down for their naps. the next thing I knew, c and I were preparing their chopped boxes! when we were finished, we called them out, one by one, introduced them, and had them sit in front of their box. on the command, they all opened their box to see what their mystery ingredients were: bacon, mozzarella cheese, biscuit dough, and herbs from mama's garden. after the countdown, they got to work. Quinn made mini bacon pizzas, lu made doughnuts with maple cheese frosting and bacon sprinkles, and rhys made bacon and cheese bombs. they were SO proud of themselves, and had such a grand time... until we told them that nobody was chopped (if we are facebook friends, you can watch the videos- hilarious!)

we dubbed chopped jr., the h-b edition, as dinner, and when we were finished and cleaned up, we went onto the next bucket list item... geocaching!!!

on our way to the geocaching location, we asked the kids what they would do if they really won $10k for their chopped offerings...
lu: I would buy myself some new crocs! (she is SO my kid)
rhys: well, I would pay workers to build me a new house.
quinn: I would buy myself a house!

when we got to the geocaching location, I gave lu my cell phone, and they went a'searchin'. little did I know, I parked right in front of where the cache was hidden! so, we decided to tackle another cache hidden on one of the peninsula trails. word(s) to the wise:
a) do NOT wear your beloved crocs to geocache on trails after a rainstorm. there will be lots of mud;
b) maybe geocaching after a rainstorm, in the woods, isn't such a grand idea. why, you may ask? MOSQUITOS! sweet mother of pearl did we get bit up... so much so that c called truce and abandoned ship!; and,
c) MOSQUITOS! it bares repeating- there were that many of them!
the kids had a great time, and are already planning our next geocaching outing!

since we were already there, we decided to pay a visit to waldameer! this is always a good time, and tonight was no exception!

... which brings us to now... the kidlets are all tucked in, and the mamas are exhausted... and itchy! a nice hot shower is in order, and, hopefully c will scratch my back :)
