a breath of fresh air...

every weekday morning, after shift change, either c or i call the nicu to see how the bits' night went. this morning's phone call went something like this:

me: 'hi, kathy! how are the girls doing?'
k: 'they're doing good! lyncoln had one desat lastnight, and well you know, quinn is doing very well off her oxygen!'
me: 'OFF her oxygen? you mean she is down to 1/2 liter room air?'
k: 'no. she is off the oxygen.'
me: 'off, as in no cannula?'
k: 'yep! no cannula! now you can see all of her pretty face!'

... at this point, i had a mini panic attack and kathy had to talk me out of my tree... she assured me that she was doing well- satting in the upper 90's. ALL. BY. HERSELF!

at lunchtime, she was still going strong. same with after school during our visit. now we know that she could get tired and need assistance from the cannula again, but we like to think that she is thinking that the nasal cannula is so for three pounders... and, our big girl is now over four pounds!

it also seems that miss quinn may be moving to a big girl bed soon. the temp in her isolette only goes down to 26. she is at a 27. she will also probably be trying oral feeds soon. she has been rooting like a fiend during her feeds.

our little girl is growing up :-)
