on the up...

it's amazing to know that we now have three children. three beautiful children.

chicken has been doing much better now that things have settled a bit- he is no longer clobbering kids with shoes. he is returning to the sweet boy that he is. his new phrase when we say 'thank-you', is 'you're welcome, gorgeous.' where he got this, we have no idea, but it is hysterical! other times, he says, 'thankyouyou'rewelcome.' all one word. he is still infatuated with the 'gwinch', loves cheese, pizza and cookies and is turning into quite the cuddlebug. the kid has a shoe fetish and he has discovered a love of cross country (okay, cross yard) skiing. he melts our hearts.

lyncoln, our little feisty gal has been keeping the nicu nurses on their toes. she is tiny, but mighty. she had her first blood transfusion yesterday, due to low blood count (poor girl couldn't keep up with all that they were drawing from her). the hope was also that the new blood would be more oxygenated, and hopefully aid with her o2 levels. it helped a bit, but today she began a round of steroids. after just one dose, her desats decreased tremendously, and when she did desat, she would recover very quickly on her own. c and i have both kangarooed with lyncoln. she is quite a snuggler. she loves to be sung to and nestles into us. the kid has a way of weaseling her way into your heart. she was born weighing 1lb7oz, and is now up to 1lb15oz... just kissing 2 lbs!!! today lyncoln pulled out her vent tubes (we found out that this was the second time that she did that!). maybe she is trying to tell us that she is finished with that thing, but her little lungs need to be stronger so that she can move onto the c-pap... and we are positive that she is on the road to getting rid of that ventilator once and for all!

quinn, our chill gal has been growing and getting stronger! she is off of the c-pap and on the nasal canula! since she doesn't have the ventilator tube down her throat, we have been able to hear her sweet little guinea pig cries. she has mighty lungs, but settles down rather quickly. c and i have both held quinn during linen changes, but today, c got to kangaroo with her. she is such a sweet girl. quinn is up to 2lb2.9oz. she loves to sleep with her arms above her head, and, if we are really lucky, she will peer at us for a moment before taking another siesta :-)
