i was hoping that i wouldn;t have to write this entry. i was hoping that the zantac would work wonders for our little lynci. but it hasn't, and here i am.
since lync came home from hospital stay #2: the aspiration episode, she has had a reflux flare up. like for real, break-your-heart-hasn't-this-kid-been-through-enough-crap flare up. projectile vomiting of every feed. writhing in pain. shrieking. desats (oh the desats- low heart rate and stop breathing). the kid would turn dusky blue an hour after every feed. and continue to do so for hours. it was scary. and heartwrenching. her dr. put her on zantac last saturday, and, we do understand that it takes a bit before it takes effect, but it wasn't working. maybe because she was throwing it up? things that make you go, 'hmmm...' the desats were scaring us. what if we didn't catch it? because the monitor sure wasn't going off. plus, we were woried about dehydration. at her dr. appt. yesterday, he scheduled her for a gi test NEXT WEEK. uh... what do we do until then???
well, lastnight lynci decided to have a bunch of episodes, so we called the dr on call. while we were waiting for the call back, she kept desatting. we made the decision jut to go to the er. at that point, the dr called and told us to go to the er... so, off we went. in the er, she had about 6 episodes and wigged the er staff out. they were debating on putting her back in the nicu or sending her to pittsburgh. they decided on the nicu, and a gi test was done this morning. all it showed was horrible, terrible, no good, very bad reflux. so, the plan is to change her from zantac to prevacid. tomorrow.
i am heartbroken. this poor kid has had to fight since day one. every day i would look into her eyes and promise to take care of her and never let her hurt. i promised to find a way to make her better. and i couldn't. hopefully they will find the answer for her.
p.s. while we were in the er, lynci had @6 episodes... the ones where her heartrate and breathing plummet... the nurses and dr's wigged out... and, her at-home monitor never. went. off. not even once. real nice.
Hate to hear all that. Praying. Could there be a problem with that monitor?
