on saturday, we ventured out into the world and took the kiddos to the zoo. we are keeping the girlios away from people and places where there are people (zoos don't count because they are outside and NOBODY is permitted to touch them)- nobody wants anything that even remotely resembles rsv, so we are definitely taking precautions. the girls had their april synagis shots and we are basically homebound. well, except for dr's appointments like every other day... rhys must disrobe when he comes into the house and immediately wash his hands and sanitize. anybody the comes into our home must wash and sanitize, as well. we're trying very hard to keep the girls healthy :-)
when lynci was discharged from the hospital last week, we noticed that she always seemed to be in pain. she was *diagnosed* with reflux, but the dr's wanted to try and steer clear of meds, so they had us thicken her feeds with rice cereal. it seemed to work for a day or so, but she always seemed to be in pain... then she started vomiting again, and we were told to thicken her feeds even more. finally, on saturday, i was physically hurting for her. just watching her writhe in pain tore me apart, and we called the dr. he prescribed her zantac and to thicken her feeds even more (we are now up to a tablespoon of cereal per ounce), as well as keep her upright as much as possible and lie her on her left side. i know that zantac takes a bit before it 'kicks in', but we are really noticing a difference. she doesn't stiffen her little body up and shriek in pain and there is less vomiting (unless we don't burp her well enough). the only discomfort we see in her now is, what we believe to be, gas and constipation. at her last weigh-in (friday), lynci j weighed 6lbs9.5oz.
quinnie j is doing very well. she has a touch of the reflux, so we took it upon ourselves to slightly thicken her feeds. when we told the dr, he seemed to agree with our actions. at her last weigh-in, she weighed 7lbs12oz.
both girls were evaluated by early intervention last week. they assessed them as 3-month olds, which they are, even though their adjusted age is a bit over a week. they scored exceptionally well, but, of course are eligible for services. they wanted their scores to fall near 77, and the majority of their scores actually fell in the 90's and 80's... all except for gross motor. lynci scored a 71 and quinn a 62. we disagree with these scores, because quinn is obviously doing much better with her gross motor skills- after all, lync was out of remission for 10 days! all-in-all, we are all working very hard with the girlios and they are little champs!
rhysie 'tup' is also having his ups and downs. he is still adjusting to life with two 'sissers.' he has had a language explosion! the kid speaks in complete sentences, puts thoughts together, understands affect, has the memory of a steel trap and loves to sing.
now, without further adieu, here is a photo dump from the past week or so :-)

I gotta see those kiddos soon! Glad things have improved with the girlies. Love you guys!
