all i wanted was a delicious organic blue corn tortilla taco... washed down by a tall, cold glass of diet pomegranate blueberry iced green tea. so, on my way home from work, i stopped by our neighborhood giant eagle, ran in to get the tea and some sour cream for my taco deliciousness, and trotted back out to my car to go home. i used my trunk remote to open the trunk and plop my groceries in... when, i noticed that something was amiss. it looked like i had splashed in mud. but where was i that there would have been that much mud, i wondered to myself i shrugged it off, got into the driver's seat, put my keys into the ignition, and something told me that i had not splashed in mud, so i got out to investigate.
the rear back end of my car had been hit! now granted, it was just really bad, deep scratches, but there was nay a note to be found apologizing for one's actions when they hit. my. car. so, i looked at the car next to me. same color as the paint near the scratches on my car. so, i investigate further. the front driver's side of the silver lesabre next to me has a suspicious blue streak and a bunch of chipped silver paint. hmmm... could it be? could this be the car that wounded my stratus? so, with my droid, that is on the last red bar, i begin snapping pictures. and i make a call to 911. yes, i knew it wasn't an emergency, but i had to call before i ran out of juice. they connected me to the millcreek police, who instructed me to get the culprit's name and insurance info.
by this time, 3 people had stopped to investigate with me. they all stated that it certainly looked like lesabre man/woman had hit me and wished me luck. so, i stood there waiting for lesabre man/woman to come out. but it was getting warm, and i had sour cream and ice cold diet pomegranate blueberry iced green tea in the trunk. what to do, what to do? so, i ran to the vestibule if the store and waited some more. then i chanced it... i ran to the customer service desk and asked them to page the owner of the silver lesabre that hit my car. then i waited some more.
a few minutes later, a lady appeared and asked if i was looking for the owner of a lesabre and why. i told her i was because i believe that it had hit my car. then. she. went. off. there was no way that she hit my car and where exactly was i parked and how do i know it was her?!?! i told her to calm down and i would show her everything.
she said that she had never been in any kind of accident (although her silver lesabre had many a'dings and dents and paint cover-ups) and that i was probably a swindler trying to swindle her. i told her, very patiently, that i was probably not even going to turn it into my insurance company, but that i wanted it on record that my car was hit, not that i hit another car. i very politely asked for her name and insurance info., and she refused. she wanted to know why i was doing this to her and what i wanted from her. i told her i just wanted her name and insurance info. then she began to rub the chips off of her car furiously and then rub my car's scratches, caused by her silver buick lesabre. she asked if i had any witnesses. i told her that i am pretty sure that the video cameras on top of the store had caught everything, and that i would be more than happy to go and secure the video. she once again denied any wrongdoing, so i told her i was going to call the cops. she asked why i was so mad and i told her that i wasn't mad, but that i was going to call the cops because she wasn't cooperating. she then begged me to tell her how much it was going to cost and were the cops and insurance people going to show up on her doorstep to arrest her and that she was absolutely sure that the scratches would just rub out.
sweet mother of pearl. this went on for what seemed like forever. i called c to get the # and phoned in my situation. as we waited, silver lesabre woman began her marathon smoke session. she was sure that she didn't do it. she didn't feel anything. what was this going to cost her? she had to get to work. why did i have to call the cops? what did i want from her? how much was this going ot cost? where were the police? did i really call them? this was ridiculous, it was only a little scrape- no one was hurt... over and over again.
i had asked c to stop by to get my precious delicious diet pomegranate blueberry iced green tea and sour cream. when she arrived at the scene, chain-smoking silver lesabre woman had her cart in front of the damage and c looked at me as if i was crazy. where was the damage, she wanted to know. so i calmly showed her. chain-smoking silver lesabre lady asked c if she was a witness or a cop. c assured her not, and chain-smoking silver lesabre lady went back to her ramblings.
finally, the police cruiser pulled up. he asked what happened, i showed him and he deduced that yes, indeed, chain-smoking silver lesabre lady had hit my car. she demanded that she show her how he knew that it was her car that made the scratches. soooo, he took his finger, rubbed along the scratch and showed her the exact color of paint that was her silver lesabre. then he showed her how the scratches lined up with the front of her car where the paint was all chipped off. she still denied it. then said that she didn't know what all the fuss was about because no one was hurt and that she didn't feel her car hit anything and she didn't know why i had to call the cops because she had to get to work. i once again told her that she would not give me her information, so i had no choice but to call the police. sooo, she finally gave him her info., i gave him mine, he gave us both a copy of the incident and she began the questioning all. over. again. was she being arrested? how much was this going to cost? were the cops going to show up at her door? this wasn't a big deal. she had to get to work... so, i thanked the officer, got into my car and left. chain-smoking silver lesabre lady went back into the store. i pulled over and called my insurance company to give them the incident number and report the incident.
in all honesty, i don't believe that she knew she had hit me. after all, she could have moved her car or left, but she didn't.
then i came home and made tacos. that's my only rave.
now, without further adieu...

it's hard to tell, but her car is on an angle, and it was very clear that she had hit me when she swung in...
