adoption anniversary!!!

one year ago today, we stood before a judge as she proclaimed that we were legally a family. i know that to some it doesn't matter that we were always a family, and, if i had to find a silver lining, it would be that this occasion is a reason to celebrate... and we are always up for a good time!!! chicken decided to call around to see where the hot spots were this evening 'cause he was ready to put on his dancin' shoes and shake a tailfeather!

we had initially decided that our adoption day tradition would be to go to the zoo, but, by the time we were home from work, it was after four, and the zoo closes at five. soooo, plan b. the issue with plan b was that we didn't have a plan b. so after some himming and hawing, i gave in and decided to go to chuck e. cheese. c has been wanting to go for so long, and i thought that her c.e.c. visit while she was in nc would suffice, but apparently i was mistaken.

the last time i was at c.e.c., it was waaaayyyy crowded. today was a different story! there were no lines, no kids shoving and lots of elbow room! we meandered around, had our c.e.c sketches done, plopped chicken down on some rides and then sat down to our cheese pizza. three slices later, he was ready to go back to the magical land of the cheesey mouse.

after we left c.e.c., we ran a few errands and came home to end the day on a sweet note. since chicken didn't demolish his smash cake on his birthday, we froze it and celebrated with it this evening!

i am such a lucky girl...
