i'm not sure where we went wrong. rhys has always been a great go-to-bedder. and, so were the girls. were, being the operative word here. actually, quinnie still is a rock star bed-goer... but lu? lu is a whooollleee different story!
when we moved into our new house, we decided to sell the girl's cribs so that we wouldn't have to move them. lyncoln was getting close to climbing out of her crib, so we just got rid of them, bought twin beds, and had the girls sleep in their pack and plays until they were big enough to sleep in their big girl beds. we figured that they would be 2 before we made that transition, but, as usual, lu had other plans!
a few weeks ago, lu discovered that her nimble little self could crawl out of her pack and play. she only did it once or twice before she stopped, so we figured that she got bored with it. until about a week ago. the game became fresh and fun for her again, but this time, she would get stuck on the corner of the pack and play, and scream bloody murder until we rescued her. this would go on for hours. the other night, after lu was tucked in, c and i retired to the living room. all of a sudden, lu's angel care monitor began going off... then, before me appeared a coy looking little lu, grasping her banky-banky, with a sheepish grin on her face. i immediately escorted her back to her room, thus beginning the cycle of lu vs. the mamas. eventually, she would fall asleep, but would wake back up around 2 a.m. screaming her little lu head off. an exhausted c tried to keep her in her room, but, a few nights, lyncoln ended up in our bed.
this brings us up to tonight. c transformed lu's bedroom into a safe haven for a kid who we know isn't going to stay in her big girl bed- the sides of her bed are flanked with the pack and play mattress and quilts, her side rail is up and we are hopefully ready for a night of lu's shenanigans. i have already been in there 4 times. c went in once and stayed with her for a bit. all is quiet in lu's room now... and, even though i'm sad that she is in a big girl bed before i thought she would be, i'm hopeful that this is the answer to a once again peaceful sleeping lu.
