one year ago today, c had a 'routine' exam to check on the duo. up until this point, this pregnancy had been filled with fear: differing nuchal fold measurements, the ongoing threat of twin to twin transfusion syndrome, extreme size discordances between the girls, numerous 'specialist' visits, warnings that our goal was to make it to viability. it was no picnic, friends.
one year ago today, the girls' fluid measurements were equal. that was wonderful news! BUT, lyncoln's cord had absent end diastolic flow (aedf)... poor lync wasn't gettin' any nutrients!
one year ago today we were told that c would be delivering these babies sooner, rather than later... that lync's flow could go into reverse at any time, and that at that point, she would have to deliver... quite possibly in pittsburgh.
one year ago today i was in denial. i just knew that in my heart these girls of ours were going to hold on for a lot longer... that the flow would pick up again and all would be well.
one year ago today we begged to have c hospitalized for continuous observation. we were denied.
one year ago today i remember asking c every few moments if she could still feel our babies move. if they were moving then, they were alive.
one year ago today, i remember it as if it were yesterday.
