we began our journey to ttc in may. c was under a lot of stress with the selling of the tribute (getting the title from the dmv, the buyer calling/texting like every single hour, etc.) and buying the toyota (did we make the right choice? what about all of the recalls? etc.)
anywho, it didn't take. we were heartbroken, of course, but spoiled because chicken's conception happened the very first time. so, we tried again in june, right before leaving for myrtle beach. our 2ww went by quickly, and when we got home, we tested. negative. so we waited a few hours and tested again. negative. then we waited a few more days and tested- and, if we squinted really, really hard, there seemed to be a very faint line. we were flooded with hope! so, we continued to test daily, if not hourly, until every single test immediately turned positive.
we told a few people, but basically kept it quiet. we wanted to see the heartbeat. so, at our first sono appt. last week, we were nervous and excited. when we were called back, c assumed the position, i snuggled in beside her, and the image of our little bundle of joy was emblazoned on the screen. the sonographer didn't say much and wasn't pointing anything out to us, so we asked how the heartbeat was. she zoomed in on it and told us it was nice and strong. then, she wrapped things up and said that we were going to do an internal.
so, c got ready and the sonographer went about her work. c grabbed my hand. she kept scrutinizing the screen and changing positions, and finally asked c if twins ran in the family. i gasped. c said, "no," and the sonographer announced that we were indeed having twins! she showed us that they were in their own sacs and had really strong heartbeats. i was shaking. i almost threw up. i almost passed out. i couldn't believe it. after all, c hadn't had any fertility treatments at all.
we know how extremely fortunate we are. and we are so very excited, and scared at the same time. we are trying to prepare as much as we can. my car is paid off and we would prefer not to have 2 car payments, so we had to find a combination of car seats that would fit in my stratus. thank goodness that we did- because i am too hip to have to drive a minivan ;-)
people ask me if it has sunk in that we are having twins. my answer is, "no." but of course, we wouldn't have it any other way... ;-)
Wow - congrats!
