in my head I am all caught up blog-wise. in reality, not so much! summer is flying by way too fast. it needs to stop! just the other day ago, I was greeted by this atrocity as I walked into the target. I think that I may need to boycott them for a bit.
just a few short weekends ago, we were celebrating father's day with c's dad... we finagled him into meeting us at one of our newest favorite spots (okay, i think that I enjoy it a bit more than c, but hey- half off draught wine!) for a late lunch. c's aunt also joined in on the fun and we all had a really nice time chit-chatting and enjoying some fabulous delicacies.

our next summer celebration revolved around nature's bounty... in strawberry form. the girls were excited about going strawberry picking, but the boy child just wanted to go and pick apples. after explaining to him that apple season was in the fall, he half-heartedly joined in on the strawberry picking, and picked 5 beautiful berries. the girls didn't do too much better, so we called it a day soon after starting.
perhaps one of my most favorite of the summer celebrations involves no words... it is just sheer, unadulterated love! of course, we couldn't pace ourselves, and gorged on it's deliciousness, so we are now left hanging for yet another year.
since there aren't any more episodes of oitnb to be had, when the tots are tucked into bed, c thought that it would be delightful if we actually interacted. when I questioned her motives, she said that we should do something other than watch tv or peruse the internet. for the life of me, i could not understand her thought process here... however, a delightful weekend combination was born...

it wouldn't be summer without a fabulous fourth of july celebration, and, celebrate we did! we started celebrating on the 3rd, with backyard fireworks. on the 4th, we started the day with a parade and candy collecting, followed by a picnic lunch at my mom's house, home to nippy-nap, and then dinner and fireworks at c's dad's.

our most recent celebration revolves around one of the ocean's grandest inhabitants- sharks! we are shark week fanatics around here... unfortunately the past few years have been bogus, but there is great hope that this year the hokey-ness will be done away with! with cautious optimism, we celebrate... with shark centerpieces, shark tableware (only the best shark paper plates will do), shark s'mores, and shark pickle in the middle.
