four

four years ago today, at 9:48 am and 9:49 am, our lives were forever changed. lyncoln arrived first, all 1lb 7oz of her... followed a minute later by a 1lb 15oz quinn. i'll never forget that day... and I try my hardest not to forget every moment with them since then.

I have never encountered someone as sly and tenderhearted as you. one moment you can be walloping on your sister, and the next moment holding your mama's face in your hands and giving me the sweetest kisses ever. your smile lights up the world; your joy rattles the universe.

one of my favorite things to do is to watch you sing and dance and improvise. you're quite a show-stopper, little lady, and my heart bursts with pride for all that you are.

'i'll love you forever. i'll like you for always. as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.'

my sweet quinnie,

just the thought of your snuggly little body makes my heart melt. your squeaky little quinnie voice makes me smile. your darling new york accent makes me laugh out loud. but, girl, you can be a hot mess. in the cutest (usually) of ways.

there are people in this world who have this innate love for all beings... a true love for living things. you, my love, possess this gift tenfold. every day you make sure to snuggle and love on pennywenny and stella... and i'll let you in on a little secret... pennywenny doesn't let just anyone love on her... but you... you are hers.

'unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. it's not.'
