we started off the day with a trip to the er. a few days ago, lu was complaining of an earache. we figured that she was just being lu and sort of brushed it off. until lastnight... she complained of an earache again, and, in the wee hours of morning, yelled out that cheese was coming out of her ears. delicious.
in the er, she was, of course, fine. acting like a loon. laughing. skipping about. after her checkup, it was discovered that it was possible drainage from her cold from a few weeks ago, but she would be put on an antibiotic, and, scheduled to see her etn next week.
all three kids went under the scissors. the only tears shed were mine and c's. sigh. they gave us a lock of each girl's hair and sent us on our merry way.
by the time we got home and got the kids into bed for naps, it was almost 2:00. we had to be up by 3:30 to get everyone ready to go see the conservatory's production of "how the Grinch stole Christmas" at 5:00. our master plan was to feed them something light on the way to the show and go to dinner afterwards. somehow, c and I also fell asleep. at 4:05, I looked at my phone, jumped up and yelled for c to get up. the girls were asleep and rhys was just chillaxin' in his bed... "is it time to get up?" he inquired. we rushed to get everyone ready (including ourselves). somehow we made it downtown by 4:40, found a parking spot, and got into the very long line to get our pre-ordered tickets. when we finally got to the auditorium entrance, I opened my envelope and handed the usher our tickets. it was then that he informed me that they were tickets to TOMORROW'S show. c let out an audible sigh as I told him that we purchased tickets for tonight, but this is what they gave me at the door. as I turned to go inquire about said tickets, he let us pass and said that he would take care of it. the show was amazing, as usual, and the kids enjoyed chomping on their Grinch cookies.
after the show, we went to a pasta place for dinner, then to pick up doughnut holes for the tots and starbucks for the moms. from there, we drove around, looking at Christmas lights.
when we got home, we remembered that we forgot that st. nick was supposed to come lastnight. I guess we have been so busy remembering that the elves need moved every night, that we overlooked st. nick... so, we had the kids put their shoes outside their bedroom doors tonight.
the h-b holiday grinchalicious date day is one of my favorite days of the year!
