40

"life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take your breath away..."

today my breath has been taken away numerous times; on this, my 40th (cough, cough) journey around the sun, I have been humbled...

i slept in a smidge, and, when i woke up, i was greeted by 40 memories, penned by my love. it was such a joy to reminisce about our past... it makes me even more excited for our future...

early this morning, i heard a bunch of hustling and bustling, and, as i ventured out of our room to let the pooches out, i found out what all of the ruckus was about. my loves sneakily decorated our house with balloons and streamers. i was then greeted by a book and a magnifying glass. c had set up a very sweet scavenger hunt of memories, written by friends and family... they were scattered around the house, and, as i found them, i got to envelope myself in the love of those i love. my heart burst with absolute joy.

i then had to hurry up and get dressed to meet c out for lunch. as i was leaving the house, i saw more decorations, and a white suv beeped at me. we live in a pretty friendly neighborhood, so i waved. then, as i pulled out of our driveway, i found out why everyone that passed our house beeped... well played, c... well played!

while i was driving i got to thinking... all of these people took time out to show me kindness, how can i do the same? and then it came to me...

after a yummy lunch with my love, i headed up to the casino. as i entered, i. was. carded. HOLLA!!! i went and got my birthday play dough, and went on to win a bit of ching... and then my plan went into action...

my plan was to commit 40 random acts of kindness, spending no more than $40, while staying in a 40 mile radius... it was AMAZING!

after my 40 acts were complete, i went to pick up the kidlets from school, then c, and we headed up to roar on the shore for a smidge. we then went out for a quick dinner, then came home for cake (the kids had chocolate, and c and i had her scrumptious homemade carrot cake)...

the kids were so excited to help me open my giftie... my first glance of my present put a smile on my face, but, upon closer inspection, i saw what made my heart soar... the picture of our kids' feet is made up of pixels... and, each pixel is a miniature photo of our family throughout the years... i. love. it.

so here i am, on my birthday evening, with a full belly, and an even fuller heart... thank you, christine, for your unconditional love and for making my birthday extra special. i heart you. and thank you to my friends and family for making me laugh and cry and laugh until i cried. to me, you are everything.
