am i coming in clear?

sweet mother of pearl, it feels like i haven't blogged for m.o.n.t.h.s! maybe that's because i haven't blogged for months!!! as a matter of fact, this is the first time that i have been on my laptop for months (i have been using my ipad and iphone, but i wasn't at all ambitious enough to blog from either one).

i wonder how many times i can use the word months in this blog...

anywho...

we did what we swore we would never do again. we bought a new house and sold our old house at the same time again. kind of. apparently the horrendousness that we went through the first time wasn't enough to deter us... but, believe you me, this time has certainly socked a powerful punch!

our plan was to stay in our old house for five years, and then begin our new house search. well, with interest rates so low, and the recent changes in the city's school districts, we began to casually look. last year, i remember saying that it was my dream to live in a certain neighborhood, but i wasn't so sure that we could swing it. well, low and behold, here we are, in the exact neighborhood that we fell in love with :) however, the getting here part wasn't quite so rosie.

when we first toured this house, we saw the possibilities- it is a big ranch, at the top of our price range. we hated the kitchen. and the kid's bathroom. and the paint color. but we figured that those could all be fixed. so we placed a bid- with the contingency that we sell our house first. our house that we hadn't even put up for sale yet. the owner's weren't entertaining contingencies, we found out, so, the next day, up our house went. and sold. quickly. waaayyyy quickly. like quickly enough to make us panic. so, that evening, we resubmitted our bid. we went back and forth a few times, but ended up getting our house. the issue was closing. the buyers of our old house needed a quick closing, and our mortgage broker assured us that a double closing wouldn't be a problem.

wrong. apparently it was a problem. our broker was in the process of opening up her own place, so she was fired. then, our new broker didn't even look at our file for over a week, and only did it then because i called and inquired about where in the process we were. they lost c's income verification THREE times, and it was emailed TWICE. the manager made the comment that if it were up to her, she would make us wait two more weeks. our broker yelled at me like a little girl. it. was. a. mess. BUT, we are here, now, and we are making it our own.

so far, we have had the entire interior painted, central a/c installed, and we are in the stages of having our entire kitchen remodeled- complete with a HUGE island. we are so excited! today, we finalized the wood species, glaze and type of cabinet. we got the backsplash ordered. the countertop has been decided upon and the island has been drawn up to our specifications. we have yet to choose hardware and a faucet. we wanted to go with an oiled bronze, but i really think that a brushed nickel would look better. we shall see...

in other news, our beebees are growing up! lyncoln and quinn are feeding themselves with a fork (for the most part). they all sleep in their own rooms (this was tough for me). l &q are transitioning to the next room up at daycare. rhys is mesmerized by scooby doo.

life is good.

now, without further adiou, here are some pics of the babes:
