we left for clemmons, nc, on saturday morning at o'dark thirty. chicken and i were both groggy from rising out of our cozy beds at an hour that would even make real chickens wince. c drove the entire way (bless her heart) and chicken was a ROCKSTAR during the entire car ride. we stopped to lunch on pb & j in a field so that chicken could strut his stuff for a bit, and then we were back on the road- stopping only for gas.

during the week, we had a ton of fun!

we experienced the most amazing fireworks- they were shot off up and down the beach, and we had prime, front-row seats to the show!

we visited the alligator adventure and ripley's aquaruim, and enjoyed the company of all of the creatures as we learned about them.

we spent saturday night in clemmons, woke up early on sunday and took chicken out to breakfast before we headed to myrtle beach. as we pulled out of the driveway, we heard a conspicuous "crunch", and discovered that the jar of peanut butter that we had packed had escaped and had met it's untimely demise. we forgot to update the maps on our gps, so we found ourselves hoping that we were going the right way when our garmin said that we were in a field (new construction). c's sense of direction, paired with her brother's keen memory, got us to our condo safe and sound!

c and chicken feasted on some "delicacies": namely, soft shell crab, alligator and frog legs.

we went on a dolphin cruise and experienced the wonder of these magestic creatures! i must add, however, that the weather during our stay was HOT! and by hot, i mean sizzling... poor chicken downed a bottle of water and a bottle of lemonade on the cruise. he was so hot, and he didn;t know how to deal with it, so he had a meltdown. literally and figuratively. when we got off the boat, i swear that people were cheering to see him go ;-)

we spent every evening on the beautiful beach- playing in the sand, riding the waves, shelling, flying kites and splashing in the waves!

it certainly was an amazing time!
